Hungary is already an interesting country, as it starts with a fascist government, which enables early aggression. The main focus of this mod is adding more flavor to the country, primarily with the new focus tree. The political branch allows for either a revisionist policy (which focuses on restoring old territory), or an ideological shift, which enables a democratic, or communist Hungary, each with its own decisions to make. Following the revisionist branch presents opportunities to reform Austria-Hungary, demand former territories of the realm, and even develop the newly acquired lands.

Instructions

  1. Download the latest version of the mod
  2. Unzip the downloaded file into your mod folder
    (eg. C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron IV\mod)
  3. The mod should now show up in your launcher screen.

v 2.7.0

  • Various bugfixes in the Yugoslavian partition event chain.
  • Dalmatia can now be given to Italy regardless of what other states they own.
  • New event that allows the player to crown Horthy as King of Hungary.
  • The focus "Reinstate Horthy" now triggers an event, which can turn Horthy into an admiral, or a chief of navy (previously, only the latter was possible).
  • Reduced world tension from some of the demands made through the focus tree.
  • Adjusted the population of Prekmurje (Muraköz).
  • Hungary now starts with some of the early ship designs researched (the ones that fit any of the former Austro-Hungarian ship categories).
  • Upon partitioning Yugoslavia (and gaining Croatia at the very least), Hungary/Austria-Hungary will inherit some (7) Yugoslavian ships.
  • The focus "Befriend Bulgaria" in the Italian focus tree is now bypassed, if Bulgaria is already in a faction. This should prevent Bulgaria from leaving the Hungarian faction for no good reason. Similarly, Germany is no longer able to influence Turkey through their national focus tree, if they are already in a faction.
  • The westernmost province of Ruma has been transferred to Croatia (state).
  • The province of Fiume has been turned into a separate state, controlled by Italy (enclave, similar to Zara).
  • The state of Croatia now has a lvl 1 port just south of Fiume
  • Montenegro has been given a friendlier map color.
  • The 1936 start for Hungary has been slightly adjusted, so that the industry isn't crippled by the reinforcement demand for many months.
  • New focus in the industrial branch: "Expand The Rubber Industry": Gives some rubber production in Transdanubia.
  • New focuses in the army research branch, that cover the license trading of Hungary in ww2 (Sweden: tanks and artillery, Germany: planes)
  • New focus in the axis branch: "Assistance From The General Staff": Should Germany agree, this will give a national spirit boosting some military stats, and also potentially some german generals.
  • Various new focuses in the revisionist branch, that provide more interaction with your allies (Bulgaria, Poland, Turkey)

Known Issues

Piece of advice: 
The mod is under continuous development, and I don't have the capacity to thoroughly test every single feature. Bug reports are therefore much appreciated, as they help me in finding all the flaws that were left in during development. Also, if you are playing with the mod enabled, consider making frequent saves, to prevent bugs from potentially ruining your campaign.

  • Converting from Hungary to Austria-Hungary currently cancels all ongoing production, deployment, research and research bonuses. This is due to the fact that Austria-Hungary is a completely different country, so basically nothing is inherited from Hungary. It already took tremendous amounts of work to transfer completed research, focuses, and ideas from Hungary. The current game state just does not support country change all that well.
  • Converting from Hungary to Austria-Hungary clears wargoals of, and towards Hungary, which is sadly not easily fixable. Currently these disappearing wargoals are replaced with either annex or puppet wargoals.
  • Converting from Hungary to Austria-Hungary breaks Hungary out of all ongoing wars. This can most likely be fixed, though it might still result in weird wars.
  • Due to the reasons listed above, if you intend to form Austria-Hungary at some point, it is recommended to complete the "Restore The Monarchy" focus as early as possible, to minimize complications.
  • Converting from Hungary to Austria-Hungary seemingly resets the focus tree. This is resolved on the next tick (1 day), at which all focuses that were previously completed, will be bypassed.

Compatibility

As of v2.4.0, the mod is compatible with v1.2 (Sunflower) of the base game
The mod is not (or not entirely) compatible with:

  • anything that modifies the German, or Hungarian focus trees.
  • anything that modifies country names
  • anything that modifies country colors
  • most things that meddle with Hungary
  • most things that meddle with the map/provinces
  • anything that adds new states
  • anything that modifies any of the following states:
    • Lower Austria (4)
    • Vojvodina (45)
    • Slovenia (102)
    • Dalmatia (103)
    • Serbia (107)
    • Croatia (109)
